KS1 Playground Leaders

Our LKS2 Playground Leaders have been doing an amazing job supporting younger children during playtimes. From running fun activities and refereeing football matches to distributing extra equipment, they’ve helped KS1 pupils expand their social and motor skills in a safe and enjoyable environment. By supporting younger children during playtimes—running fun activities, refereeing football matches, and distributing extra equipment—they help KS1 pupils:

  • Build social and motor skills in a safe, structured environment.
  • Develop confidence and teamwork through engaging play.
  • Leadership experience by organizing and managing activities.
  • Communication and problem-solving skills when resolving disputes or adapting games.
  • Responsibility and resilience, key attributes highlighted in Ofsted’s Personal Development criteria.

This initiative fosters a culture of collaboration and active play, benefiting both KS1 pupils and the leaders who guide them—an excellent example of how schools can embed personal development into daily life.

KS2 Equipment Monitors

How our school prepares pupils for life beyond the classroom is a reflection of our KS2 Equipment Monitors by taking on responsibilities that build essential life skills.By managing playground equipment—bringing it down daily, ensuring fair access for all pupils, and returning it safely—they demonstrate:

  • Leadership and Responsibility: Taking ownership of a key role that benefits the whole school community.
  • Teamwork and Collaboration: Working together to organize and distribute resources effectively.
  • Independence and Problem-Solving: Making decisions about equipment use and ensuring smooth transitions before and after playtime.
  • Contribution to Wellbeing: Supporting active play, which promotes physical health and social interaction.

This initiative not only enhances playtime experiences but also nurtures confidence, resilience, and a sense of belonging—key aspects highlighted in Ofsted’s Personal Development judgment.
