Trusted 5

Trusted 5

Every child should have a network of trusted adults they can turn to for guidance and support. The Trusted 5 model helps children identify five adults they feel comfortable speaking with, whether it's a teacher, mentor, family member, or support staff. This framework ensures that children always have someone to turn to when they need advice, reassurance, or help navigating challenges, promoting emotional security and confidence.

The 3 Rs - Regulate, Relate, Reason

At our school, we use the 3 Rs—Regulate, Relate, and Reason—to help children navigate their emotions and interactions. Regulate focuses on self-awareness and calming strategies, ensuring students can manage their emotions effectively. Relate encourages building positive relationships by understanding others' perspectives. Reason allows children to reflect on their actions and make thoughtful decisions. By following this model, we create a supportive environment where every child feels heard and empowered.

5Bs

5 Bs (Brain, Books and Boards, Brave, buddy and Boss)

To develop independent and resilient learners, we encourage students to follow the 5 Bs before asking for help. They use their Brain to think through a solution, check Books and Boards for reference materials, be Brave by attempting the task again, consult a Buddy for peer support, and finally go to the Boss—the teacher—if they still need guidance. This process fosters problem-solving skills, resilience, and a growth mindset.

8 Es (Sequence of Learning: Embed, Explore, Explain, Examples, Expand, Enrich, Evaluate, and Expertise)

Our 8 Es framework provides a structured approach to learning, guiding students through each stage of their educational journey. It begins with Embedding foundational knowledge, followed by Exploring new concepts through investigation and discovery. Teacher then Explains new knowledge and address misconceptions and uses Examples to reinforce their learning. Expand encourages children to apply their knowledge in new contexts, while Enrich deepens their thinking with additional challenges. Evaluate allows them to reflect on their learning process, identifying areas of strength and improvement before reaching Expertise, where they master the subject. This structured approach promotes critical thinking, adaptability, and a deeper understanding of concepts.

The Learning Pit

Learning isn’t always easy, and we embrace challenges through The Learning Pit model. When students encounter difficulties, they recognise that struggling is part of the learning journey. We support them in working through obstacles, using problem-solving strategies and peer collaboration to climb out of "the pit" and reach new levels of understanding. This approach builds perseverance, confidence, and a positive attitude toward overcoming academic challenges.

Traffic Light Noise Leveler

A calm and focused learning environment is essential for success, and our Traffic Light Noise Leveler helps manage classroom noise effectively. The system uses green for acceptable working noise in table discussions, yellow for working in pairs or quietly sharing knowledge around the table, and red for complete silence when needed. This visual guide ensures students understand expectations, fostering a respectful and productive atmosphere for learning.
